The Rose Basket In Denim!

Lulu’s iconic Rose Basket is a style that’s endured for decades. For AW24, we welcome a new denim style

The Rose Basket is the 1993 bag that started everything and now calls the V&A home. And for 2024, it's been re-imagined in denim with raw edge denim roses. This very special update feels super modern and even more cool.

There’s nothing like the carefree feeling of wearing denim, after all. With the new denim collection Lulu brings classic blue jeans to your bag collection.

“You’ve heard of double denim - what about everything denim?!”, says founder and Artistic Director Lulu Guinness. “We wanted to bring the freshness of denim back on our most iconic styles.”

The Denim Rose Basket has a blue jean pale with beautifully crafted roses with a utility-style raw-edge finish. As ever, it’s all in the detailing. A new red LULU label nods to classic jean styling whilst copper stitching has been used to mimic that used on classic denim jeans.

But what about The Rose Basket’s backstory? "My life changed in 1993 when I designed the Florist Basket”, remembers Lulu. “It was a black, silk satin handbag shaped like a vase with red velvet roses on top. It caught everyone’s imagination. The success of that bag taught me to dare to be different.”

The idea came simply from her love of receiving flowers. “Roses were my favourite thing,” she says. “And I remember thinking one day, it’d be so great if you could carry a vase of roses around with you all the time.” And so The Rose Basket was born - a bag like no other and a witty, whimsical creation that we now know as ‘quintessentially Lulu’.

Now you can add a Denim Rose Basket to your collection to make a signature Lulu statement with an urban spin.
