Five ways to have fun this summer (and which bag to carry)
The Lulu summer ’22 is all about fun and games, which is why we chose to make the great British seaside - and all of its amusements arcade fun - the theme for our playful campaign featuring the full line up of Bibis and Baskethead bags. These are just some of our bags that are big on personality, making them ideal playmate for all of your summer adventures. To that end, here are our five suggestions for summertime fun, and which bags to carry along for the ride!
1. Oh we do like to be beside the seaside…
Summer is here which means you just have to make it to the British seaside, if you can. There’s nothing that beats a day trip to the Brit beach, conjuring walks along the prom, two-penny slot machines and the unforgiving grabber game, fish and chips, fuzzy pink candy floss, fairground rides and hook-a-duck. Not to mention, sitting on a windswept beach praying for the sun to make an appearance from behind the clouds. Margate on the Kent coast is now a hip-and-happening seaside spot thanks to the newly revamped Dreamland amusement park and Turner Contemporary gallery. Up north, there’s a definite buzz around Morecambe Bay in Lancashire with hopes that it will soon be home to Eden Project North to add to its already flourishing culture-meets-tradition seaside vibe.
2. Park Life
Whether you’re hosting a family picnic, a Pimms and Prosecco party with friends, or just taking some me-time to sit on a bench to read and relax, the British summer is all about park life. Choose a park you don’t normally visit to mix it up a bit, or discover what events are happening over the summer months that might be fun - think fetes, festivals and family fun days. When the sun’s out, there’s no better place to be.
What to carry: Might we suggest Bibi Crossword - perfect for quiet days hanging out at the park before heading out for dinner somewhere lovely. Or one of our basket bag personalities are a playful nod to another British tradition - the picnic!
3. Pub Life
From park life to pub life. The likelihood is you’ll be spending a good chunk of time in another of our great British institutions - the pub! In the summer, too, it’s particularly sweet with the possibility of long afternoons spent with family and friends in the beer garden soaking up the sun (hopefully) and enjoying long lunches or a few drinks. You might also indulge in a few pub games, which inspired some of our Bibi designs. Which leads us to…
4. Garden Party
Summertime also brings a range of garden parties, from larger scale summer weddings that err on the more relaxed side to more formal champagne and canapé affairs, to outdoor sharing meals and barbeques. These are the perfect opportunities to have fun with your outfit - and definitely your bag.
5. Culture Trip
Make this your summer of culture. Art galleries are often free to enter so perfect if you’re feeling the pinch, plus it’s always good to feel inspired. See Van Gogh’s Sunflowers up close at The National Gallery in London or David Hockney’s ‘A Year In Normandy’ at Salts Mill in West Yorkshire. Then there are all of the festivals to take advantage of - from big to boutique, and outdoor theatre performances.
