We’re celebrating Japan’s iconic ‘Sakura’ season with a petal-filled capsule collection that’s perfect for Spring
At Lulu we love to honor special events and Japan’s Sakura (cherry blossom) season is one of these moments – a seasonal celebration inspired by nature. Between March and May, the pretty pink flower is blossoming and it’s such a big deal in Japan that its meteorological office has a service dedicated to forecasting the first blooms and festivals are held to celebrate across the country.
There’s even a name given to the act of enjoying this pink takeover - ‘Hanami’, literally meaning “flower viewing”. As soon as the flowers start to bloom, family and friends gather beneath them to eat, drink and be merry, turning parks and gardens into sites of mass outdoor celebrations. To Japanese people, Sakura symbolize spring, hope, beauty and new life, which we think are wonderful things to celebrate.
